April club dive at Wharf II

The April club dive was as Wharf II in Monterey on 4/20. It started out cloudy, but surned turned into a beautifully sunny spring day. We checked in with the harbor Master for 6 Divers in the water: Lindsay Martin, Mike Barrett, Jim Driggers, David Chervin, and new members/friends Jay and Rob. For shore support and camaraderie between dives we had Lori, Debbie, and Jennifer. We kicked out along the cement part of the wall and dropped down at the start of the wooden pilings. The dive had about 10ft visibility and was shallow (under we 30ft). It was "nudibranch central" and I couldn’t help but hum the tune “Strawberry Fields Forever” with all the anemone on the pilings. There were also heaps of crabs and some of the biggest sea stars we have ever seen. Four of the six divers decided to do a second dive, and then Bill Chinnock joined us for lunch at the London Bridge Pub. My personal review of the site is that this is not likely to be a regular dive spot like Lobos or Breakwater, but it is a very nice dive to throw into the mix every once and a while and would be very good for photographers.
