May club dive and Rescue Diver Training report

With those doing the Aqua Tutus Rescue Diver training having completed their First Aid CPR and Oxygen Provider training it was time for the water work.

On Saturday May 18th we got together at Del Monte Beach for the first day of water work.

Everyone involved with the class was on time and training began at 9:15.

During the course of the day the 10 students, with the help of 3 club members, worked on their water skills involving: a missing diver search, dealing with a stressed diver, dealing with an unresponsive diver on the surface, surfacing a submerged unresponsive diver, and exits with responsive and unresponsive divers. Everyone did well, completing the skills session about 5:30 PM. Then off to London Pub for much earned beverage and food.

Sunday May 19th was another day at Del Monte Beach. Due to parking issues class did not get started till 9:45 AM. Spent the day doing several scenarios. Everyone got the opportunity to be the in-charge person as well as being the one going into the water to assist the diver in need. Session was completed about 3:45 PM. Some headed home, some went to London Pub while Lindsay, Bryan and Keith went for a SCUBA dive and found the sailboat.

I would like to say I was impressed with the effort put forward and interest shown by the group.
