Amazing Diving Stories by John Bantin

The aft decks of dive boats ring with the sound of divers telling anecdotes and accounts of their adventures underwater. Over the years, we all collect many. Undercurrent’s Senior Editor, John Bantin, is no exception. After 25 years as Technical Editor of UK’s Diver Magazine, traveling the world to go diving in all the best places (and some of the worst), he’s got more than his fair share, and he’s collected more than 60 of them in one volume: Amazing Diving Stories.

It makes for compelling reading. Enjoy classic tales, from thrilling wreck discoveries to encounters with the bizarre and the beautiful. There are stories of death, disaster, bravery, and triumph. Tales of the exciting and the extreme sit side-by-side with more poetic pieces about the characters and places that make up the folklore of our sport. The author witnessed most of them, but the names have been changed in many cases to save some embarrassment to those involved.

Now in its third edition, Amazing Diving Stories is available in hardback, paperback, and Kindle form, as well as in Audible Audio Book for those who want to listen while driving, from Amazon.com.

Shark Bytes by John Bantin

Shark Bytes

Most Undercurrent readers enjoy close encounters with sharks – some closer than others. None more so than Undercurrent’s senior editor, John Bantin. He doesn’t profess to be a shark expert but more a shark witness, thanks to endless close encounters with many species of shark in different parts of the underwater world. It’s a first-hand account accompanied by the author’s own photographs.

From floating alongside grey reef sharks in the ripping currents of French Polynesia to heart-stopping moments when he was picked up and carried off by a giant tiger shark in the Bahamas, Bantin’s stories of encounters that were upfront and personal will keep you turning the pages.

Shark Bytes is available in Kindle edition and paperback. Search ‘John Bantin’ on Amazon.com or click here.
