Salt Point campout and dive report

Salt point 2024 group campfire

Our group was smaller than expected due  to some last minute cancellations.  The Muths and Driggers arrived Friday afternoon and settled into spots in Woodside campground. They were later joined by Elaine Berger and Alan Stanak. Derek Suring and his wife Anne Marie and their pup arrived some time later.  It was agreed that all would meet the next morning for a dive at Stillwater Cove.

Saturday morning got off to a slow start.  An interesting chain of events lead to Derek and Anne Marie leaving early.  Elaine, Jim and Alan ended up scouting dive sites but never got in the water.  Meanwhile, Rik Cederstrom went to Stillwater Cove expecting to find the group there.  When he didn't, he went on a nice solo snorkel. He reported up to 10 ft vis with a goodly supply of urchins and a few fish.

Saturday night saw our usual potluck dinner with many excellent offerings and a nice fire. Elaine headed home after dinner Saturday.

On Sunday Rik and Alan decided to snorkel Gerstle Cove and reported about 10ft vis and similar supplies or urch8ns and fish.  Rik's underwater photos from the weekend can be found on the club Facebook page.

We had lovely weather and a small but pleasant group.  Thanks to all who came and shared food and company.  I'm planning to schedule again next year and hope for a larger turnout.
