"Unprovoked" shark attacks?

Oliver Edwards | Published on 9/23/2024

"Horrifying Shark Attack in Jamaica. A 16-year-old schoolboy, Jahmari Reid, died while spearfishing alone near the town of Falmouth on August 26. His decapitated body, with a leg missing, was discovered the following day. Divers reported seeing a large tiger shark nearby, and local fishermen unsuccessfully tried to shoot it. According to the Florida Museum of Natural History, just three unprovoked shark attacks have been reported there since records began."
Two observations
1. the shark was shot at. seems that could have altered it's behavior
2. the boy was spearfishing, possibly with dead bleeding fish next to them. Also believed to modify shark behavior.

We have to consider how we're influencing the underwater environment around us...
