Hello Aqua Tutus,
First, thanks to Josh Russo and Peter Guinosso for their presentation on urchin culling at Casper Cove and to club vice president Oliver Edwards for leading the meeting while I was away. Based on what I read from secretary Arnie Warshawsky's meeting minutes, sounds like attendees enjoyed the presentation and asked lots of questions.
I was looking forward to introducing Randy Spangler for the April general meeting and seeing his presentation on assessing marine models to determine whether it makes sense to drive to the coast for diving. Unfortunately, Randy won't be able to present because of a family emergency. Entertainment chair David Sheh is actively looking for an alternate presenter for April and checking to see if Randy can present in May or July. Once the board knows who will present, we'll update the calendar and send an update. If you have a presentation you'd like to give to the club, or know someone who might, let David know. I'm sure he'd appreciate the help, and so would the rest of the club.
In last November's general club meeting, film maker Natasha Benjamin previewed her documentary
Sequoias of the Sea and announced her hope it would be shown at the International Ocean Film Festival in San Francisco. Her wish is coming true. The documentary will be shown on Sunday, April 13 at 4:00. For more information and tickets, click
here. This would be a fun club event, so I'll post a message in the club's forum in case club members would like to coordinate seeing the film.
Finally, if you haven't already, remember to renew your club membership. Non-renewed memberships will be inactivated on April 1st. If you're no longer able to access the members-only part of the club's website from then on, it's not because of an April Fool's joke.
Warmly,
Jim Driggers
