Greetings from the President, August 2025

Hello Aqua Tutus,

Thanks to Dennis Hocker, Director of Training, for presenting an impromptu presentation for July on Aqua Tutus Diving Club's training history from our founding in 1955 to the present. Even though we no longer do open water scuba diving certifications, there are many diving certifications the club continues to offer. And as Dennis often says, the most important thing for newly certified divers is to keep diving. The club's monthly dives are a great opportunity for newer divers to learn from seasoned divers, and for seasoned divers to share their love of diving and experience with newer divers.

As I wrote in my letter last month, for the August general meeting, Mike Boom will present his The Faces of Indonesia video. Mike's an amazing underwater videographer and his macro work is incredible. Mike will join us in-person at Round Table Pizza in Castro Valley with his presentation equipment, and he asks that everyone who can come to the meeting in-person to join in him the room. What you'll see in his show on the in-room screen will be significantly better quality than what you'll see on Zoom.

The club dive for August will be at Salt Point Campout and Dive - 8/22/2025. Not sure where in the area we'll dive on Saturday. Saturday evening we'll have our traditional pot-luck dinner, most likely at my and Debbie's campsite. Join the forum discussion for more information and to see whether you can camp with someone who already has a campsite reservation.

If you have website design and/or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills and are will to share your experience and expertise, please let me, Oliver, or Derek know. We're looking for help in our project to update the club's website.

Hope to see a great turnout for the August general meeting and the club dive/weekend hangout at Salt Point.

Warmly,

Jim Driggers
Club president
