Greetings from the President, January 2026

Jim Driggers | Published on 12/29/2025
Hello Aqua Tutus,

Welcome to January, 2026. There was a small turnout for last month's club holiday dinner, but those who attended enjoyed themselves and the buffet in La Cabana's back room.

We'll start the new year's general meeting programs with a Member's Night on Thursday, January 8. Please let David Sheh and Dave Chervin know you're planning to present something by posting to the event's Members Night January 2026 - Sign up forum. That forum includes a link to the club's Dropbox account folder. Please use that link to upload the photos and videos you'd like to share with other club members during the presentation. So far, only Oliver and I have signed up to present, so there's plenty of time available for other presenters.

For February, per an email exchange I was privy to, Arnie and Oliver will "demonstrate the editing techniques that an experienced UW photographer would use given flexible images like raw, expressive tools like Lightroom, powerful cameras, and sufficient lighting from strobes".

This year is the 71st year since the club's founding in 1955. The club has changed a lot over the years. So has society, technology, and personal expectations. I've proposed a retreat for the club's officers, supporting volunteers, and general members for Sunday, January 11th. Oliver has offered his home in Santa Cruz to meet at. If you're interested, even a tiny amount, check out Aqua Tutus Diving Club Retreat - 1/11/2026 in the Event calendar. More information soon.

Finally, thanks for reading this letter. Hope to see you all soon.

Warmly,

Jim Driggers
Club president
