Greetings from the President, May 2026

Hello Aqua Tutus,

Thanks to Lindsay Martin, Arnie Warshawsky, Oliver Edwards, Fritz Welss, and Dan Wilcox for sharing their images from various visits to Cozumel, Mexico in April's special Cozumel-only members night. It's always exciting to see the work of other photographers.

For the club's general meeting on May 7, Laura Gill, Public Programs Manager at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, will share about the center's rescue, rehabilitation, release, research, and education work. She'll also talk about ways we can help protect the smaller marine mammals such as elephant seals and harbor seals. See the May General Meeting in the club's Events calendar for more information.

Vice President Dan Wilcox is serving as the point of contact for the club's Wharf 2 Club Dive - 5/30/2026 in Monterey. The wharf's wooden pilings are completely covered with marine life and provide great opportunities for macro photography. The sand bottom just outside the wharf is also a great place for photographers and explorers to spend some time.

In the May meeting, I'll open the floor for club member-at-large nominations for the June election. These three positions are full voting members in the club's board of directors. They commit to attending board meetings when possible and serving as point-of-contact for at least one club dive during their one-year term of office. For more information, see the role's description in the Board of Directors, Elected Member & Volunteer Coordinator Duties. These positions are great opportunities to influence how the club is run.

Based on last month's approval to update associate members in the club's constitution and by-laws, the new file is located here: Constitution and By-Laws-04_23_26-signed

As always, I hope to see everyone at the next general meeting and club dive at Wharf 2.

Warmly,
Jim Driggers
Club president
