Greetings from the President, November 2026

Hello Aqua Tutus,
I'm glad most October general meeting attendees found my impromptu presentation of some of our club website's features helpful. Thanks to Jane Call for volunteering to help me demonstrate how club members can create their own member dives in the calendar and create a thread in the member dive forum to facilitate club members going diving together.
For the November presentation, I'm going to show a twelve-minute video I made from a club dive at Sewers in Pacific Grove last September 12th. Sewers and its neighboring dive site, Point Pinos, are rarely dove because they're both very exposed to ocean swells and, consequently, too rough to dive at. Sewers has one of the largest kelp beds I've seen in Monterey Bay in the last fifteen or so years, so diving in that kelp grove was pretty exciting. Seeing sea otters and at least one harbor seal up close was pretty special too!
After the video, I'll need your help. Please come to the meeting with questions -- hopefully diving or club related -- that you want answers for. There's usually several decades of diving, travelling, and club experience present at club general meetings, so here's your chance to plumb the club's collective knowledge and wisdom about diving equipment, safety, best practices, dive travel destinations, why the club has a name often confused with ballet apparel, and so much more.
During the meeting, club members will vote for next year's officers, click here for Officer Duties.
There'll be the usual opportunity to share dive reports and learn about upcoming events -- including the club's annual holiday dinner. Click here to register.
Congratulation to those club members who scored reservations for the November club dive at Point Lobos on Saturday, November 14th and those going a day earlier.
As always, I hope to see everyone at the next general meeting or dive.
Warmly,
Jim Driggers
Club president
