Basic Videography
April 4 General Meeting

Aqua Tutus President Jim Driggers will share what he’s learned as a budding amateur underwater videographer. The focus (!) will cover shooting short clips up to putting together a simple movie. Attend in-person at Round Table Pizza Castro Valley to socialize, meet fellow club divers, and get the best viewing experience on our HD projector.

"Members Night"
May 2 General Meeting

May's entertainment will be you!

Members night is where club members show their water themed photos or videos. We're encouraging all members to participate - you don't have to be an expert or have dove the most "amazing" far-away locations. UW snaps from your gopro or topside pictures of club dives are fine - anything water themed.

See the news article for details.

Marine species identification was popular

in March general meeting

Dave Chervin presented a 50-minute, skillfully illustrated and presented talk on marine identification in the local dive areas. A post-pandemic in-person attendance record was set.

Dive Reports

March club dive at McAbee in fair conditions

On the morning of March 16, six Aqua Tutus divers arrived at McAbee, having been diverted from original plans to dive at Gerstle Cove in Salt Point due to less than ideal conditions on the Sonoma coast.  All six made the first McAbee dive in moderate surge and poor visibility. Oliver pushed on for a second dive finding new reefs (for him) off of the aquarium. Later reports from Gerstle Cove indicated we made the right decision to stay local. See the full story here.

Diving Related News

Comic Relief

Some Finish divers decided to create a very funny (and intriguing) video entitled "fishing under ice". Take your time to figure out what's happening in this one. It displays a lot of diving physics. To avoid ruining the fun I won't give away the secrets here. If you're stuck, I've written a short news article describing (my take) on the what and why.

Scuba Show LA June 1,2

The California scuba show is located in the LA convention center this year. Last year there was a good collection of dive destinations and scuba travel agents advertising, many offering discounts. The vendor hall also has scuba gear vendors, again with discounts. Finally, there are a good selection of courses / lectures. site here.
