Club Dive April 4th

In April we will be heading up to Sonoma at Stillwater Cove. Relatively easy entry and a great way to experience north coast diving if you are used to Monterey and Carmel. While always beautiful, this area can be more condition dependent than others, so please tune in to the Forum to get up to the minute details and be sure to register if you are coming. The last club dive we had up there featured the best local conditions I've ever experienced, so we may get lucky again!

Salt Point Campout 8/28 - 8/30

Our annual dive weekend on the north coast is coming up!
Campground reservations are now active - if you want to join grab a site ASAP. We are staying in the Woodside Lower Loop. Some are showing up as early as Thursday and staying until Sunday.
Check out the event calendar for links and the Forum for details!

Club Dive at Lovers

The club dive on Saturday, March 21, 2026 was listed as a snorkel and dive on the calendar, but folks were more interested in scuba diving from Lovers Point beach 3 than snorkeling above the reef at Lovers Point 2. For the first dive, Oliver Edwards, Shawn Passeri, and Sophia Krasovskaya entered the ocean from Lovers 3 and circumnavigated the point to exit at Lovers 2. Visibility was about 10 feet and they saw surf perch, lots of starfish, and I think I heard someone say a cabezon.

For the second dive, Lindsay Martin, Eric Hoagland, and Oliver Edwards entered and exited the ocean from Lovers 3. Visibility remained about 10 feet, and sea conditions make the exit a little more difficult.

Jim and Debbie Driggers, Debbie Passeri, and Jane Call, provided shore support. Club members Dan Kaplan, Nicole Danna and their daughter Gwen visited us as did Lindsay's and Eric's friend Caroline. Above water conditions were excellent.

ReefCheck Film Now Available to Stream

Their film, Holdfast Together: Keepers of California's Kelp is now out on YouTube! Check it out and share it to those you know. Holdfast Together is a documentary-style film about the efforts of Reef Check, P.U.R.P, and Sunflower Sea Star Labs in managing and protecting California's kelp forests. This film could be a really great way to spread awareness of kelp forest declines as well as act as a fantastic fundraising opportunity for them.

Club Minutes and Business

The Board has proposed the following changes to the By-Laws:

Motion to strike Article II, Section 2, Subsection D in its entirety; modify Article IV, Section 2, Subsection A to read “Must be a member in good standing.”

Rationale: Article II 2A text states that Associate Members may not hold office except for Board Members-at-large. That policy has not been followed in recent years and is unreasonably restrictive. Change proposed to Article IV, Section 2, Subsection A clarifies text to be consistent with revised Article II Section 2 Subsection A.

Will be discussed at the April 2nd General Meeting, please bring comments and questions.
