Greetings from the president June 2022

Welcome to existing and new Aqua Tutus members as another month rolls around and it's time for a fresh newsletter.

Some of us Tooters just came back from Bonaire, and another group is now off to Bali and Komodo, and one member is just returning from Thailand and Australia where she saw leafy seadragons (I'm jealous)!

I urge all who have the opportunity to get back in the water, either on a trip or right here locally in California.  After all, what is a dive club without a little diving going on.

At the July general meeting Andrew Middleton gave a great talk about the methods he uses to improve underwater cartography at our local Monterey dive sites.  Looking forward to the August meeting we will have Carol Rose talking about what CenCal has done historically and is now doing for divers and our interests and why AquaTutus members should also be CenCal members.  Then in September we have Jim Larsen the Pacific NW NAUI representative talking on NAUI's history and local involvement and hopefully something about diving in the North West. Let me know of any topics you would like to hear about in future, and we are still looking for volunteers to help with entertainment.

On Sat 16th we have this month's club dive at South Monastery (POC Oliver Edwards).  This is an intermediate level dive depending on conditions, and is a really interesting spot close to Pt Lobos.  It will also be an excellent opportunity for newer divers to dive this site accompanied by some very experienced club members.  Oliver will be there and I am hoping to come down myself. Please contact Oliver in advance if you plan to come, and try to obtain a larger tank than average if you might need more air than a Steel 72 or Aluminum 80 provides.

Lastly on Thurs July 21st this month's board meeting (via internet) is scheduled.  All members are invited to attend and bring items to the board's attention, please contact "board@aquatutus.org" to obtain the Zoom link if you wish to attend.
