August Otter Cove club dive report 2022

On Saturday, August 20, Aqua Tutus club members met at Otter Cove in Pacific Grove. Oliver Edwards, Dave Chervin, Dan Wilcox, Kevin Gardner, Ferdinand, Jim Driggers, and Lindsey Martin did one dive and were supported by Patti and Dennis Hocker, Larry Muth, and Debbie Driggers. Sea conditions were calm with swells up to two feet. Visibility ranged from zero in the eel grass at shore's edge to 15 feet. The kelp is definitely coming back to California's central coast. There was a small kelp forest that began when the depth reached about 20 feet. Dan spotted an octopus in a rock crevice and Lindsey and Dave saw a large cabezon. After the dive, most of those present went to Gianna's Pizzeria to celebrate Larry Muth's 90th birthday.
