Hello Aqua Tutus,
First thank you to Elizabeth Taylor, president of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research. For our October general meeting, Liz talked about some of the 20 submersibles and a few of the many remotely operated vehicles DOER has made over the years. Very impressive work. The November general meeting will be Members' Night. This means the presenters will be Aqua Tutus Diving Club members showing their underwater photos and videos. If you have any photos or videos you would like to show, please contact Dave Chervin, so he can coordinate how you will get your media to him, so he can present it from the club's computer during the general meeting for better presentation over Zoom.
Thanks to Christina Clemens for serving as the Point of Contact for our October club dive at Point Lobos California State Park. We had 14 club members diving that day and additional club members came out to support the divers and enjoy the day at what some consider California's most scenic state park.
Since Christina wasn't familiar with the dive site, Mike Barrett, provided a dive briefing based on his many dives at Point Lobos. In my last greeting, I mentioned that David Sheh loaned me a spare dive mask when I left my mask at home. Mike's stepping in to provide the dive briefing was another example of one of the things I believe make Aqua Tutus Diving Club special, its members are very willing to help out other divers, so everyone can better enjoy their dives.
As I write this letter, I'm sitting on a couch in my room at Cayman Brac Beach Resort. I'm not sure where I first heard about this Caribbean Island, but it's quite possible an Aqua Tutus club member told me about it. I know there are places in the world I would never have dived if it wasn't for Aqua Tutus club members talking about the places they dove and their experiences at those locations.
I hope to return the favor during next month's Members' Night at Aqua Tutus, by showing some images or a video or two of the dives I'll be doing this coming week.
Finally, remember that Aqua Tutus club members will elect next year's club president, vice-president, membership chair, treasurer, and secretary at the November meeting.
