Greetings from the President, January 2024

Hello Aqua Tutus,

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2024. I hope the year is starting out well for you.

For those who missed the January general club meeting, I'm sorry you missed it. Even though the board wasn't able to arrange a guest presenter, those who did attend were treated to what turned out to be a great internally generated discussion on diver safety and preparedness. Thanks to all the club members who asked and answered questions and to those who shared their diving experiences. There was a lot of good discussion and a wheelbarrow full of "golden nuggets" of wisdom mined from the rich vein of diving knowledge that resides within the club.

Next month Arnie Warshawsky, our club secretary, will present a class in basic underwater photography. Those who've seen Arnie's images know he's a great photographer. He's also a dive instructor who teaches underwater photography, so if you're interested in learning how to begin or improve your skills in creating interesting images of the underwater world we get to visit, be sure to mark your calendar to attend the February 1 meeting. And if you're not interested in being behind the camera, come to the meeting to learn about some the skills and knowledge used to produce the underwater images you enjoy.

The board is actively working to schedule future entertainment for the upcoming year. If you have any suggestions or contacts with people who might be willing and able to present, please let me and the rest of the board know. I don't know how many good, impromptu presentations I and the board can pull out of our equipment bags without help from other club members.

Thanks to those who answered the recent club diver training interest survey. Results are published as "Results of club training survey" and can be found under the Officer Reports section of News / Articles.

Warmly,
Jim Driggers
Club president
