Dive Report: February 2020
Report and Photos By: Dan Schwartz
Over a dozen divers showed up at the February club dive off Lovers Cove. At Lovers 3 things at first seemed doable until something moved in rather quickly. It didn’t lay down for the rest of the day so no one did a 2nd dive there.
The sun came out early, which made for a very pleasant topside. Lovers Cove is protected but things were a little surgy until you got to around 40’. Viz was decent, around 15’ in some areas but much less in areas where there were clouds of some kind of crustaceans. They looked too small to be the typical krill I usually see. I like take a random photo and blow it up to see if I can ID what they are.
The dives had the usual Monterey inhabitants. Inverts were hermit crabs, red turban snails, Kellets whelks and the ubiquitous purple urchins. The fish were mostly olive and kelp rockfish along with a few juvenile blues. [See newsletter for more photos.]
