Club Dive November 2019: Monterey Weekend
November 8 @ 3:00 pm - November 11 @ 5:00 pm
Join us for a weekend of diving in and around beautiful Monterey County.RSVP: Meetup
Friday will be a night dive at San Carlos Beach. Lets meet at 5:00 pm and suit up so that we can get in the water by 6:00 pm at the earliest. If we need to be in the water later than that, that is fine as well.
Saturday morning I would like to dive at Copper Roof House. If conditions are not good at Copper roof house, they probably wont be good at my alternate dive spot of Coral Street but let’s no worry too much about how conditions are now. Lets just hope for the best and get some diving in.
Sunday will be at my favorite dive site at Pt. Lobos State Park. You must make reservations ahead of time to dive a Pt. Lobos. As of today, August 31, 2019 they have not released reservations for Pt. Lobos in November but keep checking the website. Dive teams are in groups of two ( and they only allow 16 teams in per day). Also parking is limited so you should be prepared to get to the gates as soon as they open, which is 8:00 am. If you plan to dive here please make a reservation for you and a buddy and plan to carpool. Pt Lobos is a state park and a marine reserve, so that means are a few rules to diving here. Please see below for the basic rules of diving at Pt. Lobos.
Monday, I would really like to organize a 3 tank dive with the Beach Hopper II. This requires contacting them and seeing if there is enough interest and availability. In the past I have have gone on a 3 tank, all day boat dive to Big Sur (according to Dennis it was only 3/4 of the way to Big Sur) that was one of the best days of diving I have ever had in the Monterey Bay Area. It was flat, calm, and on the way back we were treated to a bunch of Humpback whales and other marine animals lunge feeding on a bait ball. I cant be held accountable for the same experience on this trip but lets see what we can accomplish. To get our own charter I will need a commitment that includes payment. I dont know how much it will be to charter the boat for a 3 day tank dive but I think there are total of 10 spots. I will get in touch with the Beach Hopper II and see if an Aqua Tutus charter is even a possibility. If you are interested in this please contact me as soon as possible so I can have good numbers to talk to the Beach Hopper II about. If we cant organize a 3 tank boat trip, lets dive Coral Street.
Accommodations: I have rented a house in Pacific Grove that has room for 10 adults. So far I have 4 of the 10 spots filled. Most of the rooms are convertible for either couples or singles. Spouses and significant others are welcome but you will need to pay for two spots (this makes it fair for those who are considered single for this trip). Even at two spots this will be cheaper than local hotels on a per night basis, especially if we get all 10 spots filled . WillaM’Nilla Wafer (my dog) will be at the house as will Jenn Pechacek’s dog (as long as they like each other, when they meet later this month). Saturday night we are doing a pot luck. We can do other meals together if you like. I am working on a spread sheet to break down costs of the rental and will provide to everyone who is staying. Please let me know as soon if possible if you would like to stay at the house, unless we have already spoken.
