Remembering Renee ‘Apple’ Applegate

Renee (Apple) ApplegateRenee ‘Apple’ Applegate, an early student and member of Aqua Tutus and owner of Dive Paradise Dive Center in Cozumel, passed away suddenly in 2018. We had maintained a close relationship with Apple and the rest of her dive family during our annual Holiday dive trips to Cozumel, where we use Dive Paradise for our dive operation. In her memory and at her request, the club donated to the Cozumel Humane Society. Below is a message we received from the Cozumel Humane Society:

“Thank you very much for your recent $100 contribution to the Friends Of The Cozumel Humane Society, Inc. in memory of Apple. It is appreciated and will help us fulfill our mission to provide free spay and neuter services, educate and promote proper pet care, and ending the cycle of sick, suffering and homeless cats and dogs in Cozumel. I am a volunteer with the Humane Society who records the donations, and will be sending out the acknowledgement letters required by the IRS as proof of contribution to a 501C3 organization. I also had a personal connection to Apple. My wife and I met on a Dive Paradise dive trip 25 years ago. Apple nurtured and encouraged our love and was always proud to say that she brought us together after we got married. We have now lived in Cozumel for about 5 years. She was a wonderful person and we miss her. Gary”
